Director : David Dhawan Music : Sajid-Wajid Lyrics : Sanjay Chhel Starring : Govinda, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta, Dilip Tahil, Amey Pandya.
Govinda teams back with David Dhawan in this Sohail Khan Produced film. Partnered by Salman Khan, Govinda shows some rustiness in the first few reels. You wonder if this is the same Govinda who effortlessly gave us hits like COOLIE NO 1. But once set, like a batsman who has got his eye in, he takes strike to show glimpses of the genius of old. And by the time the curtains come down, he re-establishes himself as an actor to reckon with in the comic genre.
It’s not exactly a no-brainer as the script runs through the film holding the scenes together. In fact, it’s entertaining and manages to raise quite a few laughs. There’s Rajpal Yadav playing Chota Don; he performs his role with ease and endears himself to the viewers. There’s also Suresh Menon as Kiran, Katrina Kaif’s gay friend. But the surprise pack, I’d say is Salman Khan. With Govinda, he coordinates well to pull off some exceptional scenes with ease.
Costumes by Alvira Agnihotri and Choreography by the Bosco Ceasar duo are to the mark, so are dialogues by Sanjay Chhel. He uses the play on words to bring in subtle humour. The music too by Sajid Wajid can be bracketed in the top league.
It’s all about Salman who is a Love Guru, dishing out gyaan to lovers in need of guidance to hitch their partner. Govinda is one such man who is in love with his boss, Katrina Kaif. He latches on to Salman, following him to Phuket as well, in the hope of learning the ropes of making his moves.
Lara Duta as the single mother, and a journalist working for a tabloid always on the look out for a scoop, once again comes up trumps. Katrina Kaif, has not much of a role, but in the few scenes that she is in, she holds her own. Katrina has worked on her figure and the toned, slimmed down look is any day better that the Akshay Kumar starrer HUMKO DEWAANA…
It’s entertaining alright and viewers are bound to see Salman Khan in a very different light. Is it the Govinda magic that has rubbed off on Salman, or David Dhawan’s directorial abilities? Whatever it is, if you are looking to ‘Just Chill’, grab your partner, and move on to the multiplex for some laughs. You won’t exactly come back singing Chaiyaa Chaiyaa, but will definitely say, “Wah Wah Ramji, Jodi Kya Banayi”.
He brought back the magic of Vikram and Rajni Kanth with Aparichit and Sivaji, and now Shankar’s been roped in by the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan. SRK has signed the ace director for his home production company Red Chillies Entertainment. It has been speculated that SRK will be doing the lead role of a scientist in Shankar’s next sci-fi movie.
The scientist’s character in the movie creates a robot for his young child to play with. But the robot turns bad and starts killing people and the scientist is making desperate attempts to stop it. SRK had thought Hrithik in the robot’s role. But due to his tight schedule, Hrithik is off the project. So let us see if this speculated film will happen or not!
Madhur Bhandarkar fell with a thud at the box office with his ambitious project ‘Traffic Signal’, but the director is back again. Bhandarkar is known to make movies on burning issues revealing many hidden facets of different segments of our society. This time it is the fashion world he targets at.
His next introspective film will be “fashion Show’ revealing the darker side of the fashion world. This time Madhur opts for the most sought after heroine in Bollywood- Priyanka Chopra and sets out with a whopping 20 crore budget.
Kareena Kapoor’s career is going through a lull, but it seems that the actress is all set to start a new beginning. After her item number, an all new slim trim and glamorous look along with an upcoming romantic flick with boyfriend Shahid, the gal will be seen in “Golmaal Returns”, which is the sequel to Rohit Shetty’s comic hit “Golmaal”.
The actress has signed a three-film deal with Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd., the producer of the comic caper and “Golmaal Returns” is one of them. While the other two films are still in the scripting stage, the shooting for this one will start in November in Delhi.
Ajay Devgan, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor will also feature in the movie.
Ayesha Takia has been signed for the lead role opposite Salman Khan in Boney Kapoor’’s forthcoming project. The film, which is the hindi remake of Tamil superhit ‘Pokkiri’, will be titled ‘Wanted Dead and Alive’’.
Boney Kapoor claims that he was impressed with Ayesha’s performance in Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Dor’ and is confident that she has the freshness and talent to suit the role. The film, to be shot in Bangkok, also stars Om Puri and Mahesh Manjrekar. To be directed by Prabhudeva, the musical notes will be composed by Sajid-Wajid duo.
Buzz had it that actress Hansika Motwani aka Rheaa of Aap Kaa Surroor had taken steroids and supplements to look older not only to match with Himesh Reshammiya but also bag the lead in other films as an actress.
Manzoor Khan, her makeup artiste in the film, however denies the story saying that Hansika and he had worked together on her looks. “I am responsible for the mature look that Hansika has in the film,” he says. He adds, “It was the magic of my brush and the makeup technique that helped Hansika look older than her actual age.”
Manzoor says that he had worked out several alternatives for Hansika. “I realised that with straight hair Hansika looked much younger and thus gave her curls so that she would look older. Usually I use minimum makeup on my artiste but with Hansika it was the other way round. I deliberately chose to do heavy make-up over her face especially around the eyes and the lips so as to make her look like a lady in her twenties.”
