Shah Rukh Khan, who owns an IPL cricket team, will give a year’s time to the new venture and if doesn’t work for him, it will back to films fulltime.”It’s not a winning business at this point in time..I won’t be able to survive unlike other corporates in this business…So if it doesn’t work for one year, then I’m back to basics…I’ll be doing my films again,” he said. Khan, who has named his cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders, hoped that kids, who were his team’s fans now, remained so even ten years later.
“I hope that kids who are 12 years old now and are Kolkata Knight Riders’ fans (remain so) when they are 22. So, the whole idea is a long dream and I hope it gets fulfilled,” he told a news channel.

Akshay to battle Shah Rukh in Cricket
Posted by admin under Akshay Kumar , Bollywood News , Shah Rukh KhanNo Comments
If the Kolkata Knight Riders have Shah Rukh Khan’s charisma backing them and Preity Zinta has lent her appeal to the Mohali team in the Indian Premier League, the Delhi Daredevils have roped in Bollywood daredevil Akshay Kumar to represent them.
The team captained by ‘hot-in-news’ Virendra Sehwag is charged by this development. Reveals a source, “Akshay Kumar’s image truly represents the team’s spirit. His inclusion will inject more enthusiasm into the team.” And though the actor also has a stake in Delhi’s Daredevils, the source insists that it’s his love for cricket that’s prompted Akshay to sign up. Akshay was known to play cricket on the grounds near Red Fort and even hike to India Gate to indulge in his favourite sport during his Delhi days. Even now, the actor often takes time out of his hectic schedule to catch up with the action on field.

Hot young star Ranbir kapoor last evening walked the runway at the start of the Lakme India fashion week. The excitement he created was not only because he wore a bronzed look and sizzled in his Sherwani but also because he stopped midway on the ramp to blow kisses to his ladylove, Deepika Padukone. Deepika naturally blushed and hid behind Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir’s mother who was accompanying her at the show.Attired in a black and beige “sherwani” or Indian-style coat with intricate ethnic motifs at the hemline and sequin work at the collars, the star walked the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) ramp for designer Arjun Khanna here late Saturday. The actor’s face and hair were painted golden. “Before I came here I didn’t know that my face would be painted golden. Only when I reached the venue and sat on a chair (backstage) to get the make-up done, I got to know about it. But I enjoyed the whole experience,” Ranbir told IANS after the showContrary to expectations,, Ranbir did not take advice from his ladylove, who was a model by profession. “No I did not take any tips from Deepika before walking the ramp. I had never walked the ramp before. It was the first time for me but I was quite confident. It proved to be an excellent experience,” Ranbir said. Later in the evening, Ranbir and Deepika got cozy at the backstage.

Powerful fables of valour and courage of the Indian armed forces have always made for a good script for the Hindi film industry in war times. But the men in uniform seem to be hot favourites even in peacetime and the latest to hit the marquee is “Shaurya”.Releasing Friday “Shaurya”, which is journalist-turned-director Samar Khan’s second directorial venture, is the latest motion picture based on the life of army men, but not set in the backdrop of a war scene. In the run-up to the release, the makers of “Shaurya” have been particular to break the perception that army life is just about blazing guns and hurling bombs.Hollywood has churned out its fair share of army courtroom dramas with some like “A Few Good Men” serving as eye openers. In India, “Shaurya” would probably be the first time when army’s own systems of delivering justice have been served up in a pot-boiler.The Indian film industry has for long treated the armed forces as a ‘holy cow’. Even the Indian judiciary stays out of the path of the Army’s own system of delivery justice. “Shaurya” surely stands out in this regard. It comes on the heel of “Yahaan”, a romance between a soldier and a Kashimiri girl, and “Rang De Basanti” that was inspired by news reports alleging nexus between arms dealers and politicians.Serving in one of the world’s largest military institution has its own set of challenges and requires sacrifices to be made to safeguard its glorious tradition even when guns are silent. The film’s synopsis state “Shaurya” is “a story of justice, honour, faith and above all believing in yourself. A story of finding courage within… where friendships are tested in the battle which maters the most… the battle for truth and justice.”"Shaurya” has a court martial forming the major part of the film’s narrative where an Army Officer (Deepak Dobriyal) is being charged with mutiny, treason and killing a fellow officer. How the court martial proceeds and two Army lawyers (Rahul Bose, Javed Jaffrey), who also happen to be best friends, fight the case, is what the film is about. The film also stars Kay Kay Menon looking very suave as a senior army officer. The female leads are Seema Biswas and Minissha Lamba. The film marks debut of Rozza Catalano. The music is by Adnan Sami and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Just like his last film, Khan has roped in Bolywood star Shah Rukh Khan to play a narrator. The film marks the entry of Moser Baer, known more as CD-makers, in the filmmaking business. It remains to be seen whether making movies on armymen would make commercial sense. Recent films based on Army like “Lakshya” and “1971″ had not exactly set the box-office on fire.”The reason some of the recent war films did not make it big at the box-office was that a major section of audience were sick and tired of watching India and Pakistan at war and all the jingoism that went with such films,” clarifies a trade analyst, adding that audience still love to watch armed forces personnel on the big screen as they personify sentiments like honour, valour and sacrifice for the nation. It is surprising then when news reports said that the Indian Air Force could not find any actor, producer or director to make a film on the occasion of its diamond jubilee. They had approached Aamir Khan but were told he was too busy. Film-maker Govind Nihalani, who made “Vijeta” in 1982 when the Indian Air Force celebrated its golden jubilee, says, “There are a lot of stories of valour and commitment that can be told, but India doesn’t really have any recent history that needs to be told to the world through cinema. We have to depend on the past, and whatever has happened in the recent past has already been made into films. So, there is nothing new to say.”

Karan Johar has an extremely busy year ahead. Not only is he neck-deep researching for his next directorial venture he’s also heavily into chatting up celebrities thanks to his reputation of a glorious gabber gotten from Koffee With Karan. If you think that isn’t enough on the plate then check this out. Karan is all set to act in Balajee Films C Kkompany, the same film that also features Ekta Kapoor. Says Karan, “I won’t want to divulge any details. Ekta will tell you what I’ve to do. She’s a sweetheart. I can never say no to her.”This won’t be Karan’s first acting assignment. He started as a child actor in Anand Mahendroo’s Doordarshan serial Indradhanush, then played Shah Rukh’s nerdy friend in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.More recently he had a cameo in Sujoy Ghosh’s Home Delivery and a voice-on-the-telephone part in Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-e-Ishq. However Karan refutes recent reports that he’s acting in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion.Adds Ekta, “C Kkompany will have Karan and also Mahesh Bhatt making appearances. I’m also there. The awards committees are going to have a tough time next year.” c

Nana still not fully recovered from the foot injury that he obtained on the sets of Horn Ok Please, seems to have got himself into a very uncomfortable situation here.”Bachchi kya bol rahi hai?” he asks in his characteristically convivial tone. “If she had any complaints she should’ve said so on the sets, no?” Nana admits he was taking more than a passing interest in the item song. “I’m the leading man of the film. Mera haq banta hai. I think after more than 35 years in the industry I’ve earned the right to make suggestions. If that’s seen as interference, so be it. I won’t stop being passionate about my work just because it’s seen as interference. Why only this bachchi, during Welcome I was exchanging ideas with Anil Kapoor who’s a lot more senior and nearer to my age.And as far as interfering with the choreography is concerned you know how good I’m with my dancing. With two left feet, one foot injured, I don’t think I can be accused of giving dance tips,”he laughs heartily. When gently told about Tanushree’s touch-feely accusations Nana grows pensive….and pained. “It was a very crowded set where we were shooting. And the entrance door was very narrow.Maybe she got pushed around a bit. Hota hai. In all these years no one has ever accused me of unbecoming behaviour. I’ve worked with the best of them.”Taking a deep breath Nana says, “Mera kya hai, Subhash. I’m 58. I don’t have time for all this silliness. I still have lots to do. The day I stop being passionate about acting I’ll do something else.”He says he had no idea of what happened on the sets on Thursday. “I came to the sets as usual, kept waiting for hours. When nothing happened, I left. As simple as that. I don’t like to complicate my life unnecessarily.”As for his foot injury, ‘It’ll take time another couple of months to be fully repaired. But when my dancing isn’t a problem to me though it seems to be a problem for others why should I have a problem walking?”

Now it’s Bipasha Basu who pairs up with Ranbir Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh in two forthcoming films. While Ranbir is Bipasha’s co-star in Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseenon, the actress teams up with Neil in Jehangir Surti’s Freeze. Bipasha plays a slightly older co-star to both the young men. In Freeze, Bipasha is cast as a DJ opposite Neil’s role of a high-flying photographer. Bipasha is at the moment reluctant to talk about her role. “We’re in discussion. I like the script. It’s too soon to talk about it,” she said. Neil, who is three years younger to her, is more forthright. He said, “Bipasha is opposite me in Freeze. She’s someone I’ve always admired.” Mention the age difference and Neil is embarrassed. “Nobody will notice it. Our characters justify our presence. She does play someone older.” Is she older to Ranbir in the Yash Raj film? “Just a coincidence, I guess,” says Neil. Bipasha was reluctant to do another film where her co-star was younger, but her boyfriend John Abraham convinced her. “That’s true,” said Neil. “Bipasha did have her doubts when she read the script. But, John Abraham who happens to be a pal of Freeze’s director convinced her to go for it. John is a really cool guy. Bipasha, she’s hot! Hope John doesn’t mind my saying so,” said Neil. Dimple Kapadia dared to team up with Akshaye Khanna in Dil Chahta Hai, Saif Ali Khan in Being Cyrus and Amol Mhatre in Leela. Deepa Sahi teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan in Maya Memsaab, Rakhee Gulzar with Rishi Kapoor in Doosra Aadmi and Nutan with Amitabh Bachchan in Saudagar.

Hrithik’s item number is better than mine: SRK
Posted by admin under Bollywood News , Hrithik Roshan , Shah Rukh KhanNo Comments
King Khan was in his hometown Delhi and in a candid interview he talked about comparisons with Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, his item number in Krazzy4 and playing lover boy again at 42.
Q: Every time people talk about who is the number one actor in Bollywood your name comes up. You are constantly compared with either Aamir Khan or Amitabh Bachchan. Does so many comparisons bother you?
A: There are two ways to look at it. One is that I don’t believe that whether it is Mr Bachchan or Aamir, who is a friend, that they believe in this number game. We all respect each other’s work. There is an old saying that only telephones have numbers, not movie stars. I have never really sat down and thought that X is number one and so on. There is no race, this is a creative field. So all this doesn’t bother me really.
Q: In the film Krazzy4, Hrithik has also done an item number after you did one. Do you think you were better and was there a need for Hrithik to also do one?
A: As far as I am concerned, I told them that at the end of the day Hrithik’s dance would be better and it is so. And it will always be because Hrithik is an awesome dancer and actor. So, there is no comparison at all.
Q: In the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, we have heard that you are again playing lover boy at 42.?
A: I would clearly tell you that no, I am not playing just a lover boy at 42. It is a different kind of film and I hope people enjoy it.
Q: You are wearing two watches, and I have seen you giving away watches on KBC. It just so happens that ‘mera time bhi bahut kharab chal raha hai to…?
A: One is my own, which they (Tag Heur) gave me long time back and another one is being launched. So, I will tell the Tag Heur people to give you one. They are very big hearted and loving. (smiles)
