After their remarkable combo in the super hit Sivakasi (2005) and Pokkiri (2007), much-sought-after actors Ilayathalapathi Vijay and Kerala beauty Asin are expected to pair up once again in an untitled Tamil film soon. The latest buzz is that the gorgeous lass has asked her manager to look for a luxury apartment in a posh locality of Chennai so that she doesn’t have to trouble the producers. Asin started her film career with Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in Malayalam, but it was Amma Naana Oka Tamil Amaayi, her first movie in Telugu, that made her a household name.
Soon, Kollywood beckoned. It remade Amma Naana… into M. Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi; Asin reprised her role convincingly and walked into the hearts of everyone. Then came a landmark in her career – Ghajini. The season after Ghajini saw her act with all the top heroes of Kollywood; she even became a widely-discussed name in the rest of India. Soon, she packed her bags to Bollywood to act with Aamir Khan in the remake of Ghajini.
Since then, we haven’t seen the pretty actress in any South Indian films. But her role in her second film London Dreams with Salman Khan (which sank without trace at the box office) was very shallow. Looks like the lady is all set for a comeback; let’s wait for the official confirmation! .

Never one to undersell his strengths, Siddharth recently surprised even his most ardent fans – not to mention stars such as Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth and even Madhuvan – by suggesting that he was as big as Shahrukh Khan in Tollywood. “I do a lot of romantic roles in Telugu films,” he says, “In fact when people say you are the Aamir Khan of Telugu films, I say I am the Shah Rukh Khan of the film industry. I do all the Tujhe dekha toh ye jaana sanam type of sequences in Telugu.”
Siddharth, still most famous for his role in Rang De Basanti, had some hits past in his career with Boys, Nuvvostanante Nenodantana and Bommarillu but existed in a kind of daze until the release of Striker earlier this year – the first movie to be released directly on to Youtube, which has so received nearly a million views. He is currently making Yodha with Shruti Hassan, who is rumoured to be his new muse in real life. It’s a fantasy film that also stars Shriya Sharma.
But Siddharth hopes to return to Hindi films soon. “I am starting my own production next year,” he states, “India is becoming a great country to make small, independent films that are content driven, just like Striker. These films need to be made because these big studio films with the routine song and dance and foreign locations will always be made because they are fun. But it’s important to make realistic cinema as well. I want to get into production very soon.”

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has adopted Ambegaon, a village in the interiors of Maharastra. As part of a Greenathon campaign, Deepika has decided to adopt the village. While other actors gave their names to unusual villages, Deepika had reason to choose Ambegaon. After she heard that the village faced a major electricity crisis, she decided to sponsor them.
A source reveals that before putting her name down, she tried to find as much information as possible about the place.Deepika confirms adopting Ambegaon. “I heard that the place faces a blackout after sunset. Because of that, the villagers don’t have much to do. Now with a regular supply of electricity they can do many things like study, read et al.” She plans to follow it up by going there and seeing “the place individually some time in the future.”
A source adds that Deepika did a lot of reading up and spoke with the Greenathon people to find out the problems of the villagers before adopting it.

Bollywood filmmaker Aditya Chopra is known for not socialising – he doesn’t attend parties, film functions and cooperate with the media. Now, the grapevine is abuzz with the news that his reticence has rubbed off on Rani Mukherjee, who is rumoured to be seeing him. It is reported that Rani has stopped calling her friends and don’t even take calls at times. She has stopped communicating to close friends including Urmila Matondkar and Manish Malhotra, as she has been spending most of her time with her niece Mysha.
Rumours started spreading after Rani skipped the wedding of Dr RK Agarwal’s daughter. Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant is said to be the only person she is in touch with. It is said that she has changed a lot of late and wants to be all alone.Manish Malhotra, who is close to the actress, also admitted that he hasn’t interacted with her recently but it was because of her busy schedule. He said that she has been busy shooting in Delhi while he keeps himself busy with his shows and the ongoing fashion week.
But why should Rani shout rubbish on top of the roof when she has nothing to say? The fact is that she is not a kind of person who would do anything to stay in the news.

Friends close to John and Bipasha say that the pair is thinking about tying the knot. ‘They have been serious for a few years now, and there is talk that they might lastly do it,” the friend said. Through rumours of a split, the pair have stayed together, and the friend insisted that the relationship was quite a serious and a mature one. ‘They don’t even feel the need to confront each other with rumours any more,” she said.Another reason that the talk of marriage is surfacing is age: John is 37 and Bipasha is 31.
Though they have tried hard to break through into the top rung of Bollywood, neither has really succeeded. Bipasha has four movies this year, but none of them is a big release. The one significant film she has is Nishaad, with Ajay Devgn and Akshay Khanna, but even that has another heroine sharing the stage, the southern star Reemma.Bipasha gets a lot of recognition for her item numbers, but has not been in a standout heroine’s role for years.”She isn’t worried about that, and she thinks that she is on the verge of breaking through,” the friend said, dismissing the idea that the talk of marriage was triggered by her career’s graph.
John had a career surge three years ago when he was part of Dhoom, but since then, his career has been drifting, and except for the odd multi-starrer like Dostana, he’s had very little to show for his star power. He has one release coming up, 1-800-Love, but there aren’t too many big films that are being signed with him in it. Reports of his signing major multi-movie contracts have not been borne out on the ground.
