Aamir Khan and James Cameron, the aces from Bollywood and the West respectively, are all set to share the stage at a forum in the capital on Saturday. The two will discuss the future of cinema as key speakers at the forthcoming event which will address the changing environment of filmmaking.While there’s surely going to be a lot of talking about their respective work, reports reveal that Aamir is looking forward to meeting Cameron, and the actor-director has also prepared a list of questions he desires to ask the Hollywood filmmaker.

Aamir also intends to talk to the ‘Avatar’ director about the ways of marketing and distributing Indian films in the West.A source says, “Aamir is looking forward to meet Cameron. Like everyone else, he too is dazzled by the special effects and 3D technology of ‘Avatar’. He plans to sit with Cameron and talk to him about his views on the changing nature of films.”On the other hand, Cameron, who is all set to visit India for the first time, has also been sent the DVDs of the actor’s current films to watch before the two speakers meet.

Reports reveal that Aamir and Cameron will also be attending a private dinner later that evening. Well, it’s surely going to be a ‘big’ cinematic evening on March 13.

Never one to undersell his strengths, Siddharth recently surprised even his most ardent fans – not to mention stars such as Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth and even Madhuvan – by suggesting that he was as big as Shahrukh Khan in Tollywood. “I do a lot of romantic roles in Telugu films,” he says, “In fact when people say you are the Aamir Khan of Telugu films, I say I am the Shah Rukh Khan of the film industry. I do all the Tujhe dekha toh ye jaana sanam type of sequences in Telugu.”

Siddharth, still most famous for his role in Rang De Basanti, had some hits past in his career with Boys, Nuvvostanante Nenodantana and Bommarillu but existed in a kind of daze until the release of Striker earlier this year – the first movie to be released directly on to Youtube, which has so received nearly a million views. He is currently making Yodha with Shruti Hassan, who is rumoured to be his new muse in real life. It’s a fantasy film that also stars Shriya Sharma.

But Siddharth hopes to return to Hindi films soon. “I am starting my own production next year,” he states, “India is becoming a great country to make small, independent films that are content driven, just like Striker. These films need to be made because these big studio films with the routine song and dance and foreign locations will always be made because they are fun. But it’s important to make realistic cinema as well. I want to get into production very soon.”

Aamir Khan has known Lata Mangeshkar since his early days when she would visit his home to meet his father. But the bonding between the two grew really strong when she praised Aamir for his singing in Aati Kya Khandala, observing that he held his sur right to the end of the song. After the Khandala song, Lata invited Aamir home and gifted him an expensive watch. Aamir, on his part, got her a shawl from Kashmir while shooting in the Valley for Sarfarosh. For Lagaan, he insisted she sing a bhajan which she did free of cost.

Over the years, they’ve stayed in touch.Lately, Aamir found no time to attach with the Nightingale, so much so that she confessed on Thursday to a mutual friend that Aamir had not been replying to any of her cards, calls and letters. The friend promptly conveyed the Nightingale’s distress to Aamir who immediately decided to set things right.He called her. Says Lata, “Aamir didn’t have my new number. He sought out my number and then called. He explained how busy he had been travelling out of the country.”The singer had been planning to visit Aamir’s place since his father passed away but was hesitant due to the lack of communication with his side.

But now as the catchphrase goes, ‘Aal Izz Well’ between them. Aamir will soon be arranging a special screening of 3 Idiots for her. Adds Lata, “I love Aamir’s cinema. What a film Taare Zameen Par was! Aamir told me he plans to take the whole year off now to produce films. I advised him not to lay off acting for such a long time. Public memory is so short.” Lata is aware that her name is mentioned in 3 Idiots among the icons of our times. Aamir will screen the movie very shortly for the Mangeshkar family.

Aamir Khan has not only captured movies in a big way but firm his foot in the ad world too. By bagging an endorsement deal of Rs 35 cr, Aamir left behind his counter parties, the Bachchans and the other Khans. As per the deal, he will have to appear for allotted numbers of media shoots, press advertisements and personal appearances.

This is the largest endorsement deal that Bollywood ever had. According to advertisement guru Prahlad Kakkar, “That is a hell of a lot of money to pay. Aamir has indeed come a long way. But it isn`t surprising; he brings a great degree of single-minded exclusivity to a brand.

Associating with Aamir is also a plus for the product in another sense because he is very particular about the script, his own image and the image of the product he endorses.” Aamir Khan is also the brand ambassador of products like Parle, Coca-Cola, Tata Sky and Samsung.

The perfectionist Aamir Khan is almost torn between his wife Kiran Rao and nephew Imran Khan.The actor is also facing tough time with his Delhi Belly director Abhinay Deo who is bad mouthing the actor after some disagreements. It is learnt that the director has not even completed the final editing of the movie and has already switched over to another project.

But the major problem for the actor is that he is in deep dilemma over release of his wife’s Dhobi Ghaat and Imran starrer Delhi Belly.Dhobi Ghaat is also ready and now the actor is confused which movie should be released first.Well folks, we don’t really care which one should be released first as far as it’s a good movie! Isn’t it?

Bollywood star Aamir Khan did not attend the 55th Filmfare Awards function on Saturday night (he prefers to keep away from film awards) but his movie 3 Idiots swept the event by bagging six awards. Besides being adjusted the best film, awards like best director, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male), Best Story, Best Screenplay and Best Dialogue went to 3 Idiots.

Rajkumar Hirani was adjusted the best director, Boman Irani received the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) award, Abhijat Joshi and Rajkumar Hirani were awarded for the best story,Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhijat Joshi were awarded for the Best Screenplay while Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra bagged award for the dialogue in 3 Idiots.

Meanwhile, it was Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan, who took away the top honours. They were awarded the best actor and best actress honours for the excellent performance in their movie Paa.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan withdrew his resignation from the Copyright panel on Friday.The actor had on Wednesday resigned from the 10-member committee set up by HRD ministry to review the proposed amendments in Copyright Act following divergences with some members. It is believed that he had heated exchanges with lyricist Javed Akhtar and others over the issue of royalties in a meeting between producers and writers.

But, Aamir was asked by Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal to reconsider his decision. Even the members of the panel were in favour of Aamir coming back.Finally, Aamir decided to stay with the panel.In a letter to Mr Sibal, Aamir is reported to have written: “Sir, I have given a lot of thought to your request to take back my resignation. I have also read the letter forwarded by other members reposing faith on my honesty… I am withdrawing my resignation.”

New Delhi, Feb 19 – Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who had quit a government appointed panel to examine proposed ammendments to the Copyright Act, Friday withdrew.

Farhan Akhtar is joining the bandwagon of Aamir Khan and Salman Khan as far as promotion of movie is concerned. Farhan will be roaming around the cities to promote his forthcoming venture Karthik Calling Karthik. If sources are to be believed Farhan will be visiting six cities.

Source reveals, “Farhan is planning a six city tour which includes Surat, Indore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Bengaluru for the promotions of KCK. Farhan is very eager about the whole idea and is looking forward to meet his fans all over.” “Farhan is in two minds about other cities but the tour to these six is confirmed,” adds the source.

Wonder, whether Deepika Padukone will join her co-star in these tours considering the super-ambitious actor she sounds to be nowadays. In that case, it will be like an icing on the cake.

Bollywood star Aamir Khan is at war with lyricist Javed Akhtar over copyright issue and after exchanging some heated argument, Aamir Khan laid down his resignation letter. In his letter to HRD minister Kapil Sibal, Aamir Khan wrote, “It seems to me that there is an effort by certain people to attack me in public by printing lies about me, thereby turning the attention away from a genuine debate about copyright issues”. Some of the members of the committee did not favor Aamir’s view point over lyricist effort and star’s involvement and the actor had a strong brawl with Javed Akhtar.Unable to function in such an adverse environment, Aamir Khan resigned.

According to an eyewitness, “Aamir made it clear that he felt a song becomes a hit because it is picturised on a big star. To this Javed saab asked him, ‘Your first big song was Papa kehte hain. Did it make you a star or did you make that a song run’?” However, Aamir stood by his stance.The witness further added, “When Aamir again insisted that it’s the star who makes a bigger contribution to a song becoming a hit, Javed retorted, ‘Your so-called contribution is nothing but interference.We lyricists would be eternally grateful if you keep your so-called contribution to yourself.We manage to do good work not because of, but in spite of your contribution’.”

The committee comprises of lyricists Javed Akhtar and Prasoon Joshi, music directors Vishal Dadlani and Ram Sampat, Filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, scriptwriters Anjum Rajabali and Saket Choudhary and music companies T-Series and Sa Re Ga M and the only actor Aamir Khan.
