Abhishek Bachchan

Actor Abhishek Bachchan has urged Indians to switch off lights for one hour on March 27 as part of WWF’s Earth Hour 2010 campaign to support action on climate change. He says he will also request the film fraternity to stop shooting schedules during that period. “People really need to be educated about power conservation. I pledge my and my family’s support to this plan. I will, in my power, do whatever to save electricity and will request my friends in the film industry to shut down shootings in studios during the Earth Hour,” Abhishek told reporters Wednesday.

The Earth Hour, which is a concept that originated through WWF in Sydney in 2007, will be observed global March 27 from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. The actor has been appointed the Indian brand ambassador for this year’s Earth Hour campaign. Abhishek also suggested ways to save electricity on a daily basis.”When you finish charging your phone, don’t just unplug your phone, switch off the charger from the main switch as well. Switch off your TV from the main plug when it’s not in use. Keep your car engine off while on a red light.

These are just little ways in which we can do a lot to conserve energy,” he said.In India, 15 cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, have pledged their support for the campaign, which led to conservation of 700 MW of electricity in Delhi last year, said Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit, who was also present at the event.

New Delhi, March 10 – Actor Abhishek Bachchan has urged Indians to switch off lights for one hour on March 27 as part of WWF’s Earth.

If everything goes right, then we may see Abhishek Bachchan dancing on the cricket fields in the name of cheering and supporting ‘his own’ IPL team, just like the King Khan does in Eden Gardens. The IPL 2011 will see two more teams, and the huge Videocon group is running to get hold of the franchise rights of the Pune team. It is said that they have joined hands with Jr. Bachchan, and he might be their partner.According to the sources, P Vision Ltd, a company owned by Videocon Group chief Venugopal Dhoot, has roped in Abhishek Bachchan along with two Pune based firms, and they will be bidding for the new IPL team.

Though Mr. Dhoot refrained from making any comments whatsoever. The IPL organizers have set up few criterions based on which a franchise will be chosen. This includes billion dollar turnover of the company and also a bank guarantee of Rs 430 crore. And if sources are to be believed then the Videocon group is the frontrunner. In fact, the big daddy of IPL is also not in mood of revealing anything. He was in Mumbai to announce the League’s first-ever branded merchandise tie-up with 130-yer-old Swiss watchmakers Bandelier. He said, “everybody is speculating many things.

You will know (bidders) tomorrow.”Notably, the base price for the IPL team is 225m USD, and Adani group is also running to get the franchise of the Ahmadabad team.Well, the biggest winners will be the audience of the IPL matches, because if Abhishek joins the IPL, then his wife and very gorgeous Aishwarya Rai, and also his father Amitabh Bachchan will automatically join him in the field. Certainly, cricket will be much more enjoyable, ain’t it?

Looks like Abhishek Bachchan’s debut on television didn’t make an impact as desired. While the channel received a thumping rating for the opening episode -had to be considering viewers were curious about Junior B’s first outing on TV as host and also with Amitabh Bachchan as the first guest, it was expected to be a magical episode – which the overworking PR machine even claimed to be better than Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan’s ratings when they first debuted on TV.

But now a bird from the channel says that the ratings thereafter have been “just about average with no major dhamaka”. The bird further chirped, “But we have no complaints from Abhishek, he’s been trying hard and he is good at his job, it’s just that viewers haven’t warmed up to him.” The show which is a 13-episoder is expected to wrap up next month.

Well, all we can say is it’s once again proved that only content can make a show run and not a famous surname…

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan said movies were made for entertainment and they should not be politicised so that people working in the film industry are not demoralised.

Appreciating ‘Three idiots’ and ‘My Name is Khan’, Bachchan said these were entertaining movies and were were not meant to lure any criticism.

The Shah Rukh Khan starrer was mired in controversy with the Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal threatening to disrupt its screening initially over differences with Khan for his statement on Pakistani players non-inclusion in IPL-3.

“Nindu Hesaru Enu?” (What is your name?) “Nanige Milkshake Thumba Istha.” (I like milkshake very much.) “Nanige Abhishek Thumba Istha.” (I like Abhishek very much.) Do you think that these are the words uttered by Non-Kannada speaker? Yes! These are words of Abhishek Bachchan. This is actually a great matter of pride for us.But, the unlucky thing is that these are words taught by a Kannada babe and she is none other than Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. She taught Aishwarya Rai’s hubby Abhishek Bachchan a few Kannada words during the promotion of her movie Karthik Calling Karthik with her co-star Farhan Akthar.

It is hard to tell whether to cry or feel proud of her for teaching them. Several non-Kannada actresses like Pooja Gandhi, Parvathi Menon, Bieanka Desai, Priyanka Upendra, Malashree, Julie Lakshmi, Suhasini and Saritha speak Kannada very fluently like a born Kannadiga. They feel proud to be a Kannadiga. But why Kannada babes are forgetting the language?Deepika belongs to the category of Kannadiga actress those who are forgetting their mother tongue. She is born and brought up in Karnataka. And she started her career with the Kannada movie Aishwarya.

Now she is making waves in Bollywood film industry. Why did she teach Abhi Kannada wrongly? Has she forgotten her mother tongue? Or does she think that being Bollywood sensation, it is below her dignity to identify herself as a Kannada babe? Whatever may be the reason, she should not forget that her parents, kith and kins are Kannadigas and Kannada movie is her stepping stone to become B-Town Queen.

The first family of Indian cinema, the Bachchan parivar, will not attend the Filmfare Awards in protest of the “fake” report published by a Mumbai-based tabloid about Aishwarya Rai’s health. Aishwarya, who was to perform at the awards has pulled out from the event and the Bachchans have served a legal notice to the newspaper and are demanding a public apology. The tabloid and Filmfare both belong to the same publishing group, who are organising the award ceremony.”The lawyers notice has been delivered… seeking on a legal plane retraction and apology and we have informed Filmfare that neither will Aishwarya be performing at the event, for which all preparations had been made and neither shall any of us be attending,” wrote Amitabh Bachchan on his blog.

The tabloid had published an article stating that Aishwarya is suffering from stomach tuberculosis and therefore cannot conceive, a news branded as “totally fake” by father-in-law Amitabh.”For the moment that despite a few personal apologies from management and owners, no public apology has taken place. You cannot abuse me in public and then come and say sorry to me in private,” wrote the veteran actor. The Bachchans are being supported by R Balki, director of Amitabh and Abishek-starrer Paa, who too will skip the event despite his film being nominated in 5 categories.”

Balki, the director of the film, even when Paa has been nominated in five categories for the evening, is not attending. Thank you Balki,” added Bachchan.

All the actors, who work with Abhishek, swear by his happy go-lucky-attitude. The Jr Bachchan may not be as hugely talented as his superstar father or may not look as glamorous as his internationally famous wife, Aishwarya, but he is loved and respected within the circle he works. Newly, on the sets of Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Sey’, the actor prepared a special dish for the entire cast and crew.

And now, according to sources, everybody is addicted to that special dish. The recipe is very easy-to-make and takes just a few minutes. Here it goes – take a hot roti, smear it with lots of butter and special Australian honey, roll and tuck in.  The recipe is high on calories and perhaps, Abhishek is having them to look his part as he plays the freedom fighter – Surya Sen in the flick.

But unlike others, wife Aishwarya possibly does not approve of it, since she has an international figure to maintain. But Jr B is happy feeding his co-stars. Bingo!

In a press conference held for his reality game show ‘Bingo!’the actor seemed really dazed and confused when it came to the word ‘Paa’.As when we asked Abhishek about his favorite host on small screen, he with ample pride informs, “Of course ‘Paa’, he is the best host since now and will always be the best for me.”Though instantly after saying those very words, AB’s baby paused got confused and reframed his sentence to, “Instead of saying ‘Paa’ I would like to say Mr.Amitabh Bachchan, my dear ‘Paa’ is the best host till date (laughs).

It is not only at this press conference but also at our place that we nowadays get confused with this word ‘Paa’. We both (Mr. Abhishek and Amitabh) at our place scold each other and have lots of conversation on this word ‘Paa’ of course as a father-son-son–father relation of getting into that film character.”“But in reality, as a son I actually care for him to stay healthy and take sufficient aaraam (rest) and as a fan I want to see him in every film at each new Friday.

After all he is my ‘Paa’,” signs off the actor with a bright smile.

Abhisek Bachchan has a lot of reasons to be peeved. The actor is still reeling from a false story printed about his wife Aishwarya Rai unable to conceive till she has tuberculosis removed form her stomach. And the worst part is that the said newspaper has not given an apology despite knowing the facts now. “Aishwarya wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper denying the report and asking for a “retraction and apology”.

They’ve printed her denial but not the rest of the letter and haven’t had the decency to apologize! Apart from the fact that they have written so irresponsibly about a woman let alone my wife. My issue is when is all this kind of journalism going to stop? I have immense respect for the media. They are the opinion makers of a nation, our conscience. They must be responsible,” he thunders.
