Mehra is working on a bio-pic of the athlete and met Bachchan during the staging of the play Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai, on Sunday.
The actor felt that Milkha Singh’s life and times made a terrific story.”It is a topic that carries huge potential to become a great movie. There is history, patriotism, humanity, achievement against odds and a story of incredible pathos and poetic justice,” Big B wrote on his blog.
Bachchan said that Mehra was non-plussed about the casting. ”He was non plussed, for they had not even started thinking of it, the task being mammoth. I looked at Akshay seated next to me in the theatre and told Rakeysh ‘take him’,” he wrote.

In Toronto, Akshay is doing what he stops as much as possible… shooting in the nights. An early bird by nature,Akshay wants to have his dinner by7 pm and is generally off to sleep by 9.30 pm. Shooting late nights has always been really unpleasant for Akshay, more so since he doesn’t take tea or coffee to keep himself awake.Says Akshay, “I don’t touch tea, coffee or any of the allegedly rejuvenating beverages. If that makes me uninteresting, so be it. I’d rather spend time with my son than stand around grinning at people who really don’t matter to me.
Yeah, I amdone for the day by 9 pm because I’m up at5amfor my workouts. So shootingat nightsisaproblem. Lekin fit hai, boss,” he guffaws late at night from Toronto trying difficult not to yawn.Akshay says that he tells a never-ending stream ofjokes to everyone on the sets to keep himself awake. Actually Akshay’s jokes arequite a distraction on the sets. When he met actor Sonam Kapoor on the sets of Thank You, the first thing he askedher was, “Willyou laugh at my jokes?”Says Akshay, “It’s my only time-pass.
The problemis that several jokes are non-vegetarian and I can’t tell them when Sonam is around.”At themoment Akshay is trying hard to make his body clock adjust to thestrange timings from his schedule in Toronto.
