Sajnay Dutt

There are reports of Sanjay Dutt and his upcoming action thriller, Blue, director Tony not getting along well. The film reportedly budgeted at Rs. 100 crore also starring Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif and Suniel Shetty had a long shooting schedule concluded in the Bahamas but the differences between the no nonsense actor and the debutant director began cropping up from the film’s first schedule held at Bangkok a few months back.

A source close to Dutt informs, “Sanjay Dutt had opted for Ashtavinayak’s Blue out of many projects even though it was to be directed by a debutant director Tony. Tony comes from and ad filmmaking background and is not well versed with the functioning of Bollywood films. He was taking a lot of time on sets to get it all ready during the Bangkok shoot and Dutt who is nowadays giving prime importance to punctuality on sets was more often made to sit twiddling his thumbs. This all would further lead to delay of the end of day’s shoot making Dutt lose his patience more as he would be expecting to spend more time with his newly wedded wife, Manyata then. Dutt maintained his cool for sometime but then blew his fuse on Tony one day. From that day on both are rarely seen talking to each other beyond professional formalities on the sets.

For the Bahamas shooting schedule too Tony managed to irk Dutt yet again while shooting a stunt sequence. The stunt went wrong and Dutt and Akshay who was also part of it were saved at the last minute by the film’s cameraman. Dutt was always apprehensive about doing that stunt in a particular way and had suggested they should have tried it in a safer way but Tony it seems had insisted on going ahead with the dangerous stunt the way he wanted. Dutt obliged as Tony was the director of the film but after it went wrong he lambasted him on the sets. Now there is some more shooting of the film left to be completed in Mumbai, one hopes nothing more goes wrong between the two.”

When it comes to bringing alive the feels of authority and power of a dreaded gangster on to the big screen, no one can beat Sanjay Dutt.

His towering screen presence due to his physical personality and unique body language supplements his acting skills whenever Sanjay gets inside the character of an underworld don.

‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai’ a movie now at its pre-production stage will see Sanjay Dutt once again play a Gangster after a long time.

Based upon the heydays of the underworld in Mumbai during the 70s and 80s when Haji Mastan, Karim Lala and Varadarajan were the powerful kings of crime, this film will be a showpiece to know an important part of the city’s history of bloodshed and ruthless killing.

Sanjay Dutt is playing a role based on the life of don Haji Mastan

The movie will bring back the terror that the underworld lords brought on the street with frequent gang wars and full fledged organized crime like never before.

Shahid Kapoor is turning heads after the box office success of his movie Jab We Met, but he has failed to turn the head of Munnabhai of Bollywood, Sanjay Dutt as he has lost out on a lucrative offer of working with Dutt to Imran Khan.

Apparently Ashtavinayak wanted to have Shahid in their next flick Kidnap, but took Imran Khan on suggestion of Dutt, as the later did not find Shahid suitable for the role.

An insider reveals, “Well both Sanjay and Shahid didn’t get along well during their last film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! Shahid didn’t interact with him much and Sanjay thought that the young actor has an attitude problem. This irked Sanjay being a senior.”

A close friend of Shahid says, “Poor Shahid was in awe of Sanju and was too shy to be on back slapping terms with him.”

Imran Khan will be sporting a more muscular look for the movie as the producers have asked him to put on some weight.

News of fighting between Bollywood Khans has already divided industry in two parties. Now report is in air that Sanjay Dutt will play as a mediator to resolve Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan brawl issue.

According to different media reports, SRK and Sallu both arrived in Captown to see Sanjay Dutt whom both consider with great respect. Sanjay Dutt is working on shooting of a movie in South Africa. Sanju went over the issue and said that he was greatly shocked with the episode presented by both Khans. He was further saying that the whole situation should have been avoided by ignoring comments or by taking it in good humor.

Sanjay Dutt also said that if you don’t like somebody you should not invite and when you invite then it is a duty of host to give respect with great care to his guest. It was noted that he was pointing fingers at Salman Khan of all situation.

Sanjay Dutt has been replaced in Sanjay Gupta’s Alibaug by fellow actor Irrfan Khan, it has been confirmed.

Says Gupta, “I’ve to regretfully move on with the casting. I wrote the film with Sanjay Dutt in mind and even shot with him. But then destiny, if we can call it that, intervened. And he made his inability to do the film expressly clear. He didn’t tell me why. I didn’t ask. All I can say is Sanjay Dutt and I never shared only a professional rapport. When a year ago he made his exit from Alibaug clear, I was not willing to accept it.”

“Alibaug goes way beyond just another project for me. The entire cost of the film is what I charge as a director today. I could easily be making something else. Alibaug is being made for strictly personal reasons. Ironically, I suffered a huge personal loss (Dutt’s friendship) during this film. If during its course one relationship was severed, I made ten other friends because of Alibaug. This film is vital to me and my actors. This film means a lot to them. I can’t afford to let them down. We waited two years. Now I’ve no choice but to move on,” says the director.

Since Sanjay Dutt started seeing girlfriend and now wife Manyata, his friendship with Sanjay Gupta has been on the back burner. Alibaug has already recommenced shooting with Irrfan and is on course for a year-end release.

Considering that t has bulked up his muscles with California-based celeb body shaper Lawrence Gonsalves Jr, the actor wants to make the most of it.

He’s just finished shooting a schedule for debutant Anthony D’Souza’s Blue, produced by Ashtavinayak, in the Bahamas. This beachfront film requires him to be in top physique. But Dutt wants to take it a step further to play a James Bond-ish character in an action thriller.

Talks are already underway for another mega project with the ad filmmaker-turned-director. D’Souza will direct as well as pen the film starring Dutt. The film, titled Bond (what else?) will be co-produced by Sanjay Dutt Productions and Ashta-vinayak. It is slated to go on the floors early next year.

Says an insider, “Initial talks on Bond have already begun. It will be a big budget project loaded with adrenaline-pumping action. Sanjay Dutt will have a special look for the film. There will also be two other actors. Anthony D’Souza, better known as Tony, is just back from the Bahamas and is already in talks with Ashtavinayak. ”

Dhilin Mehta, managing director, Ashtavinayak confirms, “We are working on a project called Bond along with Sanjay Dutt Productions but it is in the initial storyboard stages.

It’s early to spell out more details but Sanjay Dutt will act in it. As Anthony is busy with Blue, things on the Bond front will roll only after he wraps up the film. The Blue unit will also have another schedule in Bangkok.”

Adds the informer, “The film will, like in any 007 film, have a lot of high-octane sequences besides the character being quite a lady-killer!”

So, we have it that Amitabh Bachchan has gifted his friend and colleague a Rs. 50 lakh watch - the platinum Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. But, what is not known is the reason behind this generous gift…. However, filmi pundits have an answer to everything. They say that Big B is making every effort to revive his prduction company AB Corp and obviously he will need actors to star in the films by his production house. He just can’t possibly feature himself, his son and daughter-in-law in every flick. Sanjay Dutt is not only a good Bachchan friend but also a very box-office friendly actor. So, this defines and justifies the lavish gift with an understanding that Bachchans too will star in Sanju Baba’s production.

The last time we saw Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on screen was in Shabd. Though the film, directed by first-timer Leena Yadav, was a flop, their onscreen chemistry worked quite well.

Now, the pair will be seen again on screen, in Mani Ratnam’s next. The film will also star Abhishek Bachchan.

Incidentally, Sanjay was not the director’s first choice. He had first chosen Tamil actor, Vikram. But he roped in Sanjay because he wanted a more popular face.

Apparently, Sanjay accepted the film immediately when Mani asked him. He even juggled his dates, and walked out of a T-series’s film to make way for Mani’s film.

The T-series film, a romantic comedy, was to star Sanjay opposite Kangana Ranaut. It is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who directed the Salman Khan-starrer Lucky.

Here’s something for the trivia lovers: There were rumours that Sanjay would star in Mani’s Aandavan with Ash and Tabu in 1997. The film was later directed by Rajeev Menon as Kandukondain Kandukondain, and Sanjay was replaced by Mammootty.

Sanjay Dutt and Govinda to comeback togetherSubhash Ghai has worked with many big actors in his illustrious career. He is now all set to bring together the hit pair of Govinda and Sanjay Dutt together again in his forthcoming film. Here are some more details of the film. “Yes, this project is on the proposal stages .We have signed Govinda, but have yet to confirm Sanjay’s dates for this film. The film is titled Dil Mein Baji Guitar and would be directed by Hadi Ali Abrar, a new and talented director. He has got a brilliant script, full of comedy and emotions. So I liked the film.”It may be recollected that Govinda and Sanjay Dutt wereearlier seen in Mukta Arts’ Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, directed by David Dhawan. So we quizzed the Showman, how different is this film going to be? “This is a different script altogether. It’s a new kind of film and not on the lines of other films which Govinda and Sanju have done before. Besides, they do get along very well and would be playing friends in the film too,” says Mr. Ghai.So when does the film go on floors? “We are yet to finalize the female cast. Music will be either by Pritam or Sajid-Wajid. The film should go on floors in July this year.” Meanwhile, Ghai’s next magnum-opus Yuvraj is 75% complete and would release in October later this year coinciding with Mukta Arts’ 30th anniversary. As they say there is simply no stopping the Showman.

Sanjay Dutt sings for Tusshar Kapoor’s nextWhat do you do when you have Tusshar Kapoor as the lead actor of a film? That too in an in-house production? Well, rope in a bigger star to promote the film. And that’s what the makers of film C Kkompany are doing.Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt is shooting for a promotional video for the film C Kkompany. The film, produced by Balaji Telefilms stars Tusshar Kapoor and Raima Sen in the lead and Sanju Baba who has been roped in only for the music video has also exercised his vocal chords for the song and its all in his trademark bhaigiri style.Sanjay Dutt says, “Bhaigiri to theek hai. Isse upar jaonga to besura, isse neeche jaonag to besura.” (This is all fine, but I will go out of tune if I sing one note higher or lower.)
