After having delivered two back to back solo hero hits like ‘Vivaah’ and ‘Jab We Met’, Shahid has delivered yet again with ‘Kismat Konnection’. Shahid becomes one of the select few top Bollywood heroes to have an opening at the box office. It also takes Shahid Kapoor in a different league with a wide release of prints, since only the superstars of Bollywood can command that clout. The ‘young superstar’ of Bollywood, Shahid has proved both his box office clout and his acting prowess with three back to back hits.Trade watchers are already predicting superstardom for Shahid, as they say that the time is not far when Shahid is officially acknowledged as one of the top five stars of Bollywood.

Shahid Kapoor, the young superstar is presently shooting in Pune for Vishal Bharadwaj film ‘Kaminey.. .’ he will be sporting a new look for the film.And when multi starrers are ruling the roost in Bollywood, Shahid has gone against the trend and delivered three solo hits. His forthcoming films are also solo starrers with Yashraj Films, two with UTV, Vishal Bharadwaj and Ken Ghosh, including another to be directed by his dad, Pankaj Kapoor!! With lady luck showering her affection, Shahid is enjoying every bit of his success. After all he is the only actor to have had three back-to-back solo hits.The success of ‘Kismat Konnection’ overseas too has opened a huge NRI market for Shahid. He is also referred as the new romantic icon, considering his huge fan base amongst the youth of the country. Shahid continues his solo winning trend at the box office!!!!

Kismet Konnection may have been a good success at the box-office, but our Shahid Kapoor doesn’t care about the critics who have written his film off.

He says, “I do films for audiences. There are certain subjects that appeal to the audiences more than the critics.” He adds, “I am never really going to make a film for an individual, or to please a reviewer. A critic, after all, is just an individual.”

“Kismat… was a much larger release than Jab We Met. The perception that it has not done well is created because of the reviews. In due course, the figures will start coming out and you will know. My earlier film, Vivaah got terrible reviews but it ran for 48 weeks. Audiences don’t bother about reviews, beyond a point. It is more about audiences waiting for your film to release.”

Shahid who has been criticized by the critics for looking younger than co-star, Vidya Balan says, “I take all criticism very seriously. I will work harder next time.”

What do you think people did Shahid Kapoor look younger than Vidya Balan in KK?

Well he has not taken any inspiration from his ex-girlfriend Kareena but Shahid is losing weight for his upcoming flick Kaminay that is being directed by Vishal Bharadwaj.

Shahid Kapoor looked very fit and great in his last movie Kismat Konnection but is keen to be more fit and healthy and his following a strict regimen to reach his goal.

He says, “I think I have looked the best in Kismat Konnection but my role in Kaminay expects me to look thinner.”

He also reveals his strict fitness regimen plan, adding, “I work out for 5-6 times a week. I am a vegetarian and am on a fixed diet. I eat every three hours and eat food with no oil, no sugar. I believe to have a good body one doesn’t have a choice but to exercise. I have no favorite exercises as such, I just follow my trainer. I don’t have a gym at home but that doesn’t stop me from working out often. Also it’s not about which equipments you use to work out. It’s all about how much you can make your muscles work! I am happy to have a body that normally veggies find difficult to achieve!”

Shahid Kapoor is turning heads after the box office success of his movie Jab We Met, but he has failed to turn the head of Munnabhai of Bollywood, Sanjay Dutt as he has lost out on a lucrative offer of working with Dutt to Imran Khan.

Apparently Ashtavinayak wanted to have Shahid in their next flick Kidnap, but took Imran Khan on suggestion of Dutt, as the later did not find Shahid suitable for the role.

An insider reveals, “Well both Sanjay and Shahid didn’t get along well during their last film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! Shahid didn’t interact with him much and Sanjay thought that the young actor has an attitude problem. This irked Sanjay being a senior.”

A close friend of Shahid says, “Poor Shahid was in awe of Sanju and was too shy to be on back slapping terms with him.”

Imran Khan will be sporting a more muscular look for the movie as the producers have asked him to put on some weight.

Boy wonder Shaahid Kapur is smiling a lot these days. The reason, from his film Kismat Konnection’s release, is the great time he had shooting for it. Now, before you start imagining him with Vidya Balan behind the scenes, let us inform you that he’s only cherishing his experience of working with Aziz Mirza. Turns out the actor’s been mighty impressed with the senior director and breaks into an adorable smile while recollecting the latter’s reserved, simple nature.
Apparently, an actor who was required for a couple of scenes in the film didn’t turn up for the shoot. So, Shaahid and the crew decided to rope in Aziz to do the cameo himself. They did all they could to convince him that as the scene was at the start of the film, it would prove lucky. “Just when I had personally started styling his (Aziz) hair for the shoot, he made an excuse and managed to cleverly wiggle out of it,” he laughs. Shaahid also captured a lot of special moments on location with his camera. “The best picture is of a 10-month-old Chinese kid,” he says with a crinkly smile.

It seems like Kareena Kapoor is still not done with ex beau Shahid Kapoor. After dumping him almost a year a go Bebo is making sure that Shahid is never cast opposite her. Director Imtiaz Ali who had Kareena and Shahid in his hit Jab We Met wanted to cast the lead pair again in his coming movie. Kareena expressed her discomfort working with Shahid and asked Imtiaz to replace him with someone else. Akshay Kumar was offered the role and he happily accepted.

It may be recalled that not too long ago Kareena was upset with Imtiaz when he had cast Deepika Padukone opposite her beau Saif Ali Khan in his next movie. Saif wanted Imtiaz to cast Kareena but the director declined in what will be Saif’s home production. To appease Kareena Imtiaz had promised to cast her in his next movie. It seems Kareena just doesn’t want to be in the same frame as Shahid. On his part Shahid has time and again maintained that he has no issues working with Kareena.

Shahid Kapur holds no grudge against his ex-lover. In fact, he is even open to working with Kareena Kapoor, who broke-up with him to romance Saif Ali Khan. Anyway Shaahid had the image of a cool-headed guy and now he just seems to have proved it. At a recent interview he made his intentions clear. He said, “If I am offered a film opposite her (Kareena) and it’s an interesting project, I will be open to doing it. Beyond that it’s upon the producers and directors to decide if they want to offer us a film together.”

Well, clearly he is totally over Kareena. Is it his alleged proximity with co-star Vidya Balan that has led to this change? Recently, there were reports that Vidya had admitted to having someone close to her heart whose name starts from the letter ‘S’. However, Shaahid thinks it inappropriate to respond to that. He says, “I think you need to ask Vidya about it. I cannot justify anything that she has said.”

Shaahid also spoke about the rumours of his affair with tennis sensation, Sania Mirza. He said, “I don’t feel the need to justify myself. My family and friends know about whatever is happening in my life. It is after all my personal life.”

Bollywood starlet Bipasha Basu is known to snub the media every now and then but the latest Bips update indicates that she has started snubbing her B-town colleagues as well! Recently, Bips babe was to requested to appear as a celebrity guest for the finale of a reality show on a private channel. The actress did turn up for the shoot at Film City but when she realised that Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan would also be featuring on the same episode of that very reality show, Bips couldn’t gulp it and left the venue in a jiffy, refusing to shoot for the episode.

According to reports, Bipasha had been roped in by one of the sponsors of the show and she had already agreed to feature on it but the presence of Shahid and Vidya was a problem to Bips. The director of the show had clearly told her that her shoot will be done separately but Bipasha didn’t budge and walked out of the sets.

Apparently, Bipasha claimed that since she was under a contract with Yash Raj Films for their film ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, she would not be able to accommodate the show.

Bipasha’s refusal to shoot left the channel and the producers in a fix as her promos were already on air. The producers then called up Yash Raj Films to check out the basis of the contract that Bips was talking about and to their surprise they found out that no such contract existed. Hence, Bips was left with no choice but to return to the sets later during the week for the shoot. Because of the utter chaos all the contestants had to be called again.

We wonder, with such a minuscule role in ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, can Bips even afford to have such starry airs?

His role as Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met is still fresh in public memory, but now  returns to try his luck with his new film Kismet Konnection opposite Vidya Balan.
Q: Destiny is the theme of your film. How much do you personally believe in ‘kismet’ yourself?

A: Very strongly indeed. Everything happens on time and no one can fight destiny.

Q: Is this also a role that people will identify with, just like they did with Aditya?

A: I do think that people will identify with this role very well. While on one hand, Aditya in Jab We Met was serious, introvert, quiet and brooding, this guy in Kismet Konnection is the opposite. He is talkative and he is on the run all the time. He is a much more entertaining and fun character. He is an extrovert. It was a refreshing character to play as an actor.

Q: When you were watching Tashan, were you laughing?

A: Not really. (Laughs) I know that anything that I say about the film will become something large. There were portions of it that I liked. Honestly. (Laughs again) A lot of hard work goes into every film. One must not negate that for personal reasons. Things go right sometimes and sometimes they don’t. That’s how films are.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan with his killer makeover and the raunchy masculine look might have inspired the B-town to hop on the six pack abs brigade but looks ike the change in his image hasn’t gone down so well with King Khan’s loyalist director Aziz Mirza who feels that SRK looks too old to play the lead in his movies anymore.

After delivering Box Office blockbusters like Raju Ban Gaya Gentlemen, Yes Boss, Chalte Chalte, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani starring SRK, the ace director has now switched loyalties by opting out for younger actors like Shahid Kapur, as he returns to tinsel town after a long hiatus with his much talked about flick ‘Kismat Konnection’.

Speaking to a news daily Mirza said, “Shah Rukh is too old for the role in Kismat Konnection . The role is about the life of a 26-year-old and Shah Rukh is 40 plus. It doesn’t suit him”.

Even though Mirza might have replaced SRK with Shahid he still aims to stick by another favorite of his, actress Juhi Chawla. The film will see the graceful actress in a short supporting role which according to reports Mirza has been very impressed with.

Well, we wonder then what is the ‘Nareal award’ winner for the worst dressed celebrity Vidya Balan doing in this youthful flick as the actress has been said to be a little to matured to be sharing screen space with cutie, Shahid.

However, Mirza does not share this otherwise popular opinion as the director states that the two look good together and share fabulous screen chemistry. He goes on to justify that the pair was cast keeping the ‘sensibilities’ of role in mind.

So can we say that Shahid is the new SRK. Well at least for Mirza he is.
