Rani Mukherjee recently threw a party at her newly renovated bungalow and invited all the four Khans of Bollywood.

But reports are that Aamir Khan , Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan decided to skip Rani’s house-warming party as it was to be attended by Shahrukh Khan .

The three Khans chose to stay away from the bash and only the King Khan was seen making an appearance.

Speculations are rife that this has more to do with the SRK-Salman spat, since Rani is known to be at good terms with all the Khans, namely.

Rani has recently moved into a spacious new home which has been beautified by Sussanne Khan Roshan and Twinkle Khanna in the upscale Juhu neighbourhood and had been planning a house-warming party since long but had a tough time fixing it up all thanks to the busy schedules of all the stars Rani wanted at the party.

But all that planning has gone into the drain with most of them snubbing her do.

Those who made it to the party were- SRK, Gauri, Karan Johar , Akshay Kumar and Twinkle, Farah Khan , Farhan Akhtar , Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor, and Sussanne Roshan.

Rani Mukherjee is paying heavily for her loyalty to the Chopras and the Yash Raj banner. Her last three films with them, Tara Rum Pum, Laaga Chunri Main Daag and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic have all turned out to be duds at the box office. But it seems that her well wishers in Yash Raj too are concerned about her.
According to sources, Aditya Chopra has already announced a film with Rani and Shahid Kapur. He wanted to start another project with Akshay Kumar and Rani, but the actor refused to play along. It seems that after the debacle of Tashan, the actor is not too keen to work with the banner. His second reason for refusing the offer was that he is not too keen to work opposite Rani. It seems that when he was not as big as he is now, Rani had refused to work opposite him in Tanuja Chandra’s Sangharsh and Vikram Bhatt’s Awara Pagal Deewana. So now it’s pay back time. He definitely is in no mood to forgive and forget. The problem that Rani faces is that she has very few heroes who she can work opposite. Her regulars like Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan have already moved on, so has Salman. Things are not the same between her and Abhishek Bachchan anymore after his wedding. That hardly leaves her with too many options. But it’s heartening to hear that the Yash Raj banner appreciates her loyalty.

She was always excited about her stunts. She had to do a lot of things like cycling across rainbows, roller coastering in water etc. At times even I was scared when she had to cycle at 60 feet but she was always excited,” Kunal says. Kunal who reckons TPTM as his most difficult film says it is a blend of fantasy and reality.

“We all have pain and sorrow in our life. So somewhere we all need these magic. So this film tries to address this issues in a very simple way. Its about emotions and basic goodness of life,” he says.

In all my films I have tried to capture as how different people react to different emotionally volatile situations and this film also deals with a different emotional situation,” he adds. A self-confessed film buff, Kunal says he is obsessed about Indian films.

“I have always been obsessed about Indian films, I watch a movie every night before going to sleep. I don’t know about world cinema and neither am I interested in them, he says.

Journalist-turned-director Kunal shrugged off all controversies regarding another film of the same title releasing on the same date, saying he has spoken to the director and there is no such controversy.

Nestle India has discontinued it’s contract with Rani Mukerji, who was the brand ambassador for its chocolate brand. Rani has been endorsing the brand for the last four years and has featured in many television commercials for the same during this time. Asin, who stars opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini, also booted Rani out of the Fanta commercial recently. An official of Nestle India on condition of anonymity revealed that their contract with Rani was almost over but they were planning new marketing strategies. “Our brand strategies include targeting the youth and Rani is no more a youth icon. Her films haven’t done well at the box office. Hence, we are looking at someone who is popular. We are working on the options and the announcements will be made soon.”

Sources close to Rani say, “Rani is disappointed by Nestle’s unprofessionalism. They knew well enough that once the contract was to be renewed, her price would have to be increased too.”
Apart from Yash Raj Films’ Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic, Rani hasn’t signed too many films this year. Yash Raj Films have signed a new girl, Anushka Sharma, opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Karan Johar has signed on Kajol for My Name is Khan.

Rani Mukerji’s last few films — Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Tara Rum Pum and Saawariya — did not set the box office on fire and now the actor is banking on her angel avatar in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic to end the box-office drought.
“I can vouch for the fact that being an angel is a hard task and portraying one on the screen is no easy job. For instance, even during sad moments, crying is not an angel’s forte. It was a challenging role in more than one way. There were a lot of action sequences and director Kunal Kohli made me do some gravity defying stunts that reminded me of Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish act. Imagine being hooked to a harness mid-air. But the air up there is much more refreshing,” she said with a smile.
The angel angle certainly reminds us of City of Angels and Mary Poppins but Rani brushes off the comparisons. “Thoda… has an Indian feel to it. To describe it in a few words, I’d say, it is a blend of the fantasy element with the real world. It does not have the Tara Rum Pum hangover either, the only common link is the Saif-Rani jodi, and the similarity ends there. This is my third film with Saif, and I feel, we have evolved as actors since Hum Tum. There are four kids in the film and two of them were facing the camera for the first time and it was amazing to see how well they adapted to the entire situation. My last two films, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Saawariya were of the serious sort and the role required a certain amount of maturity but this film has been quite a different journey. It gave me a chance to relive many of my childhood moments and fantasies.”

Moving to her next project, she says, “In July, I will start working on debutant director Anurag Singh’s film with Shahid Kapoor. I play a cricketer in the film, so right now I am busy learning the tricks of the game.”

As for something exciting on the cards with her favourite co-star, Shah Rukh Khan, she adds, “It’s been a couple of years since Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna happened and I am hoping something nice with Shah Rukh will soon come across and of course I will grab the offer.”

While things are usually bright on the work front, Rani’s personal life is bogged down with controversies, mainly her alleged relationship with filmmaker Aditya Chopra. “Every other day a controversy, which has no truth to it, is created about me. And the false news spreads like wild fire. I have a busy schedule and it is not possible to come up with clarifications every time, I just hope there will be a full stop to all of this someday,” she rues.

Rani Mukherjee will be turning into a cricketer for an upcoming Yashraj Films movie.Rani, whose last few films haven’t fared well at the box-office, is now taking on only those roles that challenge her as an actress.
One such role will be in an untitled YRF’s production in which she plays a cricketer. The actress has been preparing for her role for the last two months and has been getting on-field training in the game by experts.
Today, Rani claims she has understood the basics and the nitty-gritty of the game well, even though she is far from playing at par with the levels of professionals.“I’ve been learning cricket regularly on the field for the past two months. I can most certainly play the game convincingly now, though not as good as professionals yet,” Rani is quoted in an IANS report.The movie, to be directed by newcomer Anurag Singh, has Rani pairing with Shahid Kapur . It also has hottie Sherlyn Chopra in a small but important role.Even as Rani prepares herself for this film, she is awaiting to see the audience response to Kunal Kohli’s film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic in which she plays an angel.In doing this role, Rani had to do several difficult stunts (like flying in the air) with the use of cablework techniques. “It required a lot of physical strength to assume the correct ‘flying’ posture on the harness,” the actress told the agency.

And now that Rani Mukherjee’s home is organised, she has signed another Yash Raj film, and that too with a new director. Confirms a source close to Rani, “Rani has been totally immersed in getting her house in order. Her dream house, done up by Sussanne Roshan (and not Twinkle Khanna as reported in a part of the media) had become her primary obsession and that’s why she hasn’t been signing any new films, not because she’s getting married. As for the rumours of her impending marriage, she had laid down bets with her close friend that the date set down in the press - February 10, 2008 - will come and go and she’d remain single. Rani now dares anyone else to set another date. She’ll win the bet again.”
According to a family friend Rani is a close friend, not just of Adi but of the entire family. “Yashji and his wife are also very fond of her,” says the family friend. With one more Yash Raj film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic on the anvil, Rani has just signed another Yash Raj film, the only film she has given the nod to in the past six months. Says our source, “In fact now that her home is completely done, Rani is ready to sign more films.”

In spite of Tara Rum Pum and Laga Chunri Mein Daag not doing as well as expected last year, Rani Mukherjee continues to be a Yash Raj loyalist, and not for reasons that people seem to believe. According to people in the know there are no marriage plans between Rani and the Yash Raj scion, Aditya Chopra in the near future.

In spite of the recent setback, Yash Raj Films continues to sign new directors for big-budget projects. The latest recruit to the Yash Raj oeuvre is debutant Anurag Singh who will direct Rani Mukherjee. She’s now embarking on another phase in her career and is all set to be directed by Anurag Singh for a film featuring Shahid Kapoor.

Singh has no other feature film to his credit. But he has produced two films - Hum To Mohabbat Karega and Jurm, and has done films as an associate director with Rakesh Roshan. He came into the Yash Raj fold as associate director on Dhoom 2 and was immediately recognised by Aditya Chopra as a talented movie maker.

Says a source, “Though some of Yash Raj films, directed by debutantes like Vijay Krishna Acharya (Tashan) and Anil Mehta (Aaja Nachle), have proved disastrous, Aditya Chopra continues to believe in new talent. He feels that for every Tashan gone wrong there will be a Chak De India that goes right. Beginning with Anurag Singh, the banner is in the process of signing a number of new directors for big projects. And Rani continues to believe in Yash Raj. Not that she isn’t open to outside offers, but Yash Raj remains her priority.”

It’s fun-galore on Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez hain as the biggest stars of Bollywood descend on the small screen; Karan Johar, Rani Mukherjee and Shahrukh Khan. No, it is NOT Kuch Kuch Hota Hain? again; this time the trio have assumed different avatars and come together on India’s biggest quiz game show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain in which Shahrukh officially plays the role of the knowledgeable teacher and Rani and Karan are summoned as classmates.

This Saturday, June 7th at 8 pm, viewers will witness India’s finest actor, Rani Mukherjee, and ace-director, Karan Johar, stumble into Shahrukh’s classroom quite unaware of what trouble awaits them in the form of eleven fifth grade questions, as they try to prove that they are smarter than a fifth grader on Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain
While the warmth, the funny repartees and camaraderie between the guests and host is the over-powering flavour of this celebrity special episode, it really does not help Karan and Rani win brownie points and impress the strict and intelligent teacher-Shahrukh Khan who flummoxes them with his very first question.

As India’s most celebrated actor and director struggle to get their facts right with the help of five 10-year-olds, Shahrukh has a great time pulling their leg and making them beg for answers. Karan even gets down to his knees to beg for answers. “Hamari bahot beizzati hui hai yahaan par”, Karan jokingly kept saying. When Karan and Rani tried to cheat from the audience, SRK gave them a fitting punishment by making them stand on the chair in the classroom.

There are many hilarious and emotional moments intertwined in the show. The most funny being where Karan reveals that, as a kid, he wanted to be a barber and cut people’s hair when he grew up. This had the audience in split’s thinking India’s leading film director wanted to become a hairstylist at one point. He was refused admission when this question was asked in the schools. On a serious note, Rani reveals that she always wanted to make it big but did not know which direction to go. She speaks of wanting to return plenty of happiness to her parents for all the hardship she has seen them face in her growing years.

Karan and Rani played in true-sportsmanlike-spirit giving everybody their share of laughter, entertainment and fun. They won a handsome amount which they intend to donate partly to Nanavati Hospital and partly to another medical facility in the country of Rani’s choice.

The close friendship of director Kunal Kohli and actress Ameesha Patel is giving top name Rani Mukherjee the jitters… Rani feels that Ameesha is stealing the limelight from her. Initially, Ameesha’s role in Kunal Kohli’s flick Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was supposed to be only a guest appearance. However, because of her closeness with the director, the role has been extended… and now Ameesha is being promoted as one of the lead heroines in the flick. This isn’t going down well with Rani Mukherjee, who was hoping to make this film all her own. A source says, “Kunal seems to be taken in by Amisha’s soft nature and even fought with Aditya Chopra to get Amisha’s role extended in TPTM. And he has made her look stunning in the film, unlike Rani, who’s looking uninspired. The effort and care that has gone into Amisha’s character is very apparent.”
When Rani noticed Ameesha promoting the film as her own, she immediately went to boyfriend Aditya Chopra (producer of the film) and demanded Ameesha back off. Aditya then told Kunal to put the breaks on Ameesha or else he will never be allowed to work for Yash Raj Films again.
In related news, there are reports that Ameesha Patel has split from boyfriend Kannav Puri, because of her alleged new-found love for Kunal Kohli. Amisha’s spokesperson says, “Amisha and Kannav haven’t broken up.” And adds that she doesn’t want to comment on her friendship with Kunal.

Producer Aditya Chopra seems to be on a spree to woo his ladylove Rani Mukerji these days. Grapevine has it that Adi recently bought a 10-carat diamond ring for Rani. A well-placed source revealed that the ring is not a regular gift, but a rather special one. Despite Rani’s dismal performance in almost all of Yash Raj’s latest projects (Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Ta Ra Rum Pum), Adi has no qualms whatsoever and the lover boy, instead, is trying hard to flatter his ‘lucky mascot’ by going up to her with precious gifts. According to our source, Rani has always been loyal to Yash Raj Films. She agrees to star in most of their projects without any starry airs, and this is what Adi really likes about her. Is it Adi? Is it all that you like about her? Well, if we believe you then the ring becomes a rather hard piece to digest. Gulp! Ahem!
