Ancient Caledonian Pine Forest in Dramatic Scottish Highlands Oil

Full prompt

Fine art landscape oil painting on rough woven linen depicting the primeval Caledonian forest of the Cairngorms. Gnarled, wind-bent Scots pines with peeling orange-cinnamon bark stand sentinel over weathered granite bedrock and sprawling carpets of purple ling heather and peat moss. A turbulent peaty burn rushes over mossy boulders in the foreground, catching reflective flecks of cold silver sky. Moody storm clouds break in the upper quadrant, allowing a dramatic theatrical burst of late afternoon golden light to illuminate the twisted branches and craggy glen beyond. Rich impasto brushwork on lichen patches, sweeping glazing techniques for the distant misty mountains, and a moody Scottish Romanticism palette of heather purple, forest green, burnt sienna, and slate gray.
